1. Purpose

This Framework sets out the professional and ethical standards expected of all Jewellery Industry Network (JIN) Members.
It supports our shared goal of promoting trust, professionalism, and integrity across the Australian jewellery industry and provides a basis for maintaining membership in the Jewellery Industry Network Members Program.

Members who uphold these standards will be featured in the JIN Jewellers Directory, a consumer-facing guide showcasing reputable and trusted jewellers across Australia.

Where these standards are not met, we may need to review a member’s place in the Directory, and in more serious or ongoing circumstances, their membership may also be reviewed.

2. The Role of the JIN Members Program

The JIN Members Program connects professionals, suppliers, retailers, and designers in the jewellery industry through education, collaboration, and consumer awareness initiatives.
Being a member signifies dedication to high standards and ethical conduct.

The Members Program promotes:

• Professional trust – Consumers can identify credible jewellers.
• Industry collaboration – Members support shared growth and innovation.
• Community responsibility – Members contribute positively to the industry’s reputation.

3. Member Commitments

By joining the Jewellery Industry Network, members agree to:

1. Conduct business honestly and transparently, providing accurate product information and fair pricing.
2. Comply with Australian law, including the Australian Consumer Law, advertising standards, and fair trading requirements.
3. Uphold quality and craftsmanship standards, ensuring representations about products are truthful and verifiable.
4. Respect colleagues and consumers, avoiding false or misleading comparisons or statements about others in the industry.
5. Engage fairly in marketing and online communication, ensuring claims are clear, honest, and consistent with industry regulations.
6. Support ethical sourcing, avoiding trade in conflict or illicit gemstones and metals.
7. Maintain professionalism, including responding constructively to consumer or industry complaints.

4. The JIN Jewellers Directory

Members who consistently uphold these commitments will be listed in the Jewellery Industry Network Jewellers Directory, a trusted public resource promoted to consumers as a guide to reputable jewellers.

• Directory listing is offered to members who uphold the community’s professional and ethical standards, and is optional.
• Listing is reviewed periodically to ensure compliance with JIN standards.

5. Promotion and Use of Membership

Members are encouraged to proudly display their Jewellery Industry Network Member status in marketing and communication materials.
However, use of the JIN logo or brand must:

• Follow approved guidelines.
• Be withdrawn immediately if membership ends or is suspended.

6. Review and Improvement

This Framework will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains relevant, practical, and aligned with industry expectations.
Member feedback is welcome and encouraged.

8. Declaration

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood the Jewellery Industry Network Membership Standards & Commitment Framework and agree to uphold its principles as a condition of membership.
